Do you and your staff need to develop the skills and techniques that will help you write more accessibly?
Doing it for you
From time to time it’s useful to take an in-depth look at the material you produce. Are your materials effective? Is the money you spend on leaflets, booklets, other written information and websites well spent? It’s difficult to assess writing that you’ve been involved in producing. We can give you an objective review. We do this in two ways.
Audit
We look at all the documents and messages that your organisation produces and assess how well they work for their target audiences. We offer advice on how to rework these documents, and other future messages – and we offer guidelines for writing and presenting documents clearly, simply and effectively. These guidelines, which are for in-house and out-house staff to use, are often linked to design considerations and can form part of an organisation’s corporate visual identity.
Consultancy
If you are looking to revise or develop your communications strategy, talk to us first. We know which kinds of written information work best for different purposes. We can talk to you about how to assess how readable your writing is and give you some guidance on how to measure readability, so that your written information reaches the right audiences. And we can advise on the skills that your staff will need to make sure that your information continues to be clear and simple.
